The precipitation sensor works due to optical beams : signal break allows determining the size of hydrometeors. This information is transmitted in real-time.
It gives a qualitative measure of precipitations :
- Precipitation intensity : None, Light, Average, Strong, Very Strong
- The type of precipitation : Rain, Snow/Rain, Snow
This sensor is very useful in detecting transport risk phenomena (precipitation on surfaces below 0°C or snowy precipitation) and generating meteorological alerts.
Mechanical characteristics
Dimensions : 185 x 165 x 85 mm
